Real Case Studies

The Oman hotel that wouldn't check a guest in without a passport copy nobody asked for

A property in Oman needed a passport copy from every guest before arrival — to create an entry pass, not to check in. Neither the traveller nor the travel agency had any way of knowing.

A hotel in Oman had a requirement that never showed up on any booking confirmation: a passport copy from every guest, submitted before arrival. Not for the front desk — for an order pass the property itself needed to get its guests legally into the country.

A requirement invisible to everyone except the hotel

Neither the traveller nor the travel agency that made the booking had any reason to expect this. It wasn't a standard check-in document, and it wasn't flagged anywhere in the booking flow — it was a specific local requirement this particular property needed met before a guest could actually be let in.

Had the travellers found out at their destination instead of before it, the consequence wasn't a minor inconvenience. Without the entry pass the passport copy was for, they risked not being let in to the country at all.

A booking confirmation can only tell you what the platform that issued it knows. It has no way of knowing what one specific property, in one specific country, actually requires.

What re-verification caught

rePUSHTI identified the requirement while re-verifying the booking directly with the hotel, and passed it to both the traveller and the agency in time to act on it. The passport copies went in before the trip, not discovered as a problem after it had already started.
